Much Awaited Samsung Galaxy Note wil be on AT&T on Feb. 19

Samsung Galaxy NoteOn Feb. 19, Samsung’s much awaited Galaxy Note will be available in AT&T for $300 with a 2-year contract.

The 4G LTE mobile phone could be pre-ordered online or in the retailers starting Sunday. Delivery will be Feb. 17, according to the company.

The South Korea-based company have been promoting the Galaxy Note as being a new device classification aimed toward the creative-minded set, even though the majority of customers will more than likely find it as a combo of a tablet and smartphone.

The new smartphone features its large 5.3-inch touchscreen – one of the largest in line with other phones – and a stylus.

By using the stylus, which they also call the “S Pen”, the company says, “users can easily sketch drawings, jot down notes, or write emails and texts quickly and easily in free-form handwriting.”

“The Galaxy Note brings a new level of efficiency to busy customers who would normally rely on multiple devices,” according to Jeff Bradley, senior vp of devices for AT&T..

“This new breed of smartphone helps consumers accomplish more with a single device than ever before.” he also added.

In the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the company dedicated a large part of its floor area to featuring off the new Galaxy Note and even hired artists to utilize the smartphone to draw caricatures of the visitors.

Photos of 7-inch Eee Pad Tablet Leaks

7-inch Eee Pad tabletA picture apparently exhibiting ASUS‘ 7-inch Eee Pad tablet, allegedly set to launch at CES 2012 in a few days, has appeared, together with ideas that the scaled-down slate can borrow the removable battery-keyboard form-factor from the Transformer Prime. The picture, captured by NotebookItalia, reveals a machine quite definitely in step with the Prime’s aesthetic, and much different from what we have witnessed from the Eee Pad MeMo also anticipated within this month.

Nonetheless, it is uncertain whether ASUS promises to bring 2 units [the 7-inch tablet and 7-inch MeMo] to CES, or whether or not one of the designs have been cancelled completely. The Eee Pad MeMo was initially introduced as a glasses-free 3D slate, and then seemingly faced the axe right after setbacks, and lately was reported to be showing up, sans-3D, in the first quarter of 2012 handling Ice Cream Sandwich.

Whether or not this picture could be the final style and design, an imitation throughout the creative procedure is uncertain. The docking port at the base could possibly suggest that a netbook-style keyboard-dock may be out of the question – though ASUS could possibly have an even more standard dock just like Samsung offers, without having the folding joint and into which the 7-inch Eee Pad tablet docks vertically.

Samsung Galaxy S II HD Unveiled, U.S. Launch Not Announced

Samsung Galaxy S II HDSamsung seems like releasing and developing phones faster that we’ve imagine. Just when the wireless carrier T-Mobile announced the release date of its Samsung Galaxy S II phones, maybe a couple of days before it arrive on AT&T wireless network, it’s been out on Sprint since September though, the Korea-based company unveiled the new Samsung Galaxy S II HD which is actually a Galaxy S II LTE but it has an HD display screen.

The display of the Samsung Galaxy S II HD has 720 x 1260 pixel resolution other than its brother Galaxy S II LTE. It features 16GB of internal storage, NFC support, 8mp camera, a 1.5GHz dual core processor and again of course the 4.65-inch Super AMOLED HD display screen.

The Galaxy S II HD will first be launched of course in the country where it originated, Korea, and yet to mention the availability elsewhere. It will make it its way to other countries after the initial launch expectedly.

No announcements yet as to what U.S. wireless carrier it would show up first.

Apple Inc. Requests Banning of Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Australia

samsung galaxy tab 10.1 vs ipadSydney, Australia – Samsung’s latest Galaxy Tablet 10.1 is allegedly infringing at least three patents of Apple Inc. and must be banned in Australia because it would steal the iPad sales, according to the Apple Inc. lawyer.

In the Apple Inc. patent, Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 infringed the design of the iPad, according to Steven Burley, Apple’s lawyer, said at the scheduled 2 days of hearing in Sydney, Australia. “They ought to clear the way in advance rather than attempt to crash through.” He also added.

Apple is asking Annabelle Bennett, Federal Court Justice, to stop the sales of Samsung’s Galaxy 10.1 Tablets in Australia. This battle of the two companies is a continuation of their argument which began last April in the U.S. after the California-based company sued Samsung accusing them that the Galaxy products are completely imitating the technological ideas and designs that the iPads and iPhones have. Samsung fought back with lawsuits filed in South Korea, Japan, and Germany.

According to a research from Gartner Inc., Apple’s iPad dominated about 73 percent of the tablet computer market sales in this year. Other products that run on Google’s Android operating system, which includes the Galaxy tablets, will have to take 17 percent of the market.

Samsung agrees on the ruling in August to delay the release of the Galaxy 10.1 tablets in Australia until Federal Court Justice Annabelle Bennett rules on Apple’s request of banning the sales of the products.

Samsung Galaxy S II Hits 10 Million Unit Sales

Samsung Galaxy S IIFor the last two months, Samsung surprisingly sold 10 million units of their new Galaxy S II smartphones worldwide.

The Handset that handles Google Android system (which is under the patent infringement lawsuit against Apple Inc. for its Android tablets and phones) began selling the Android 2.3.4 “Gingerbread-based S II” in Korea last April.

The phone which features a 1.2 GHz dual processor and a 4.3-inch Super AMOLED plus display screen, sold 1 million units in Korea in less than 1 month, and more or less 3 million units in just 55 days.

To prove that this news from Samsung isn’t just an anomaly, the company reported last July that they sold 5 million units of Galaxy II in 85 days, spanning in European countries, Japan and South Korea. This occurred before the phone was launched in the U.S.

The Korea-based company actually hit the 10 million sales mark with just minimal U.S. market sales, as the company’s Galaxy S II, epic 4G Touch from Sprint has been on the U.S. market since Sept. 16 only.

The new S II is different from the other existing S II units that feature a 4.52-inch display screen. EWEEK found that the Epic 4G Touch process apps smoothly and quickly.

AT&T will begin selling its own S II on Oct. 2, though T-Mobile has not yet announced when it will start selling its own S II.

Apple and Samsung Rivalry Continues in UK

samsung vs appleThursday – Apple said it filed a lawsuit against its rival Samsung in United Kingdom’s High Court earlier this week, as the two technology big players continue to fight for its legal rights involving their tablets and mobile phone products.

Apple did not release or expose any details regarding the lawsuit. Last June, the company, Samsung, filed a lawsuit against Apple in Chancery High Court, accusing apple of violating Samsung’s patented wireless technology inventions, according to the statement.

The Korea-based company also confirmed  that it had also filed  a lawsuit in a French court last July 8 alleging Apple of infringing their patent. The three patents Samsung has been complaining that Apple infringed covers 3G technology, the products iPhone, and 3G versions of iPad and iPad2, Samsung confirmed.

The rivalry between the two tech giants are engaged in legal battles around the world. Sept. 9, Apple gained the favor of winning the case to permanently ban the sales of Samsung Tablets in Germany. The Dusseldorf district court found that Galaxy tab 10.1 is very similar to Apple’s iPad 2.

Samsung was said to appeal the ruling. The company also said that the ruling was inconsistent with its previous ruling on Aug. 24, in which did not find the Samsung Galaxy tab were similar to Apple’s iPad products.

Apple Wins Over Samsung: Permanent Ban of Selling Tablets

galaxy tab bannedFriday, the Dusseldorf district court ordered Samsung must not sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in Germany because it looks much as iPad 2 by Apple Inc. Samsung Germany is also not allowed to sell the Tablet in any other European Union country, but other divisions of Samsung can sell into those countries.

Samsung will try to appeal the decision in the Higher Regional Court in Dusseldorf, according to a spokesman. He said in a statement, “We are disappointed with this ruling and believe it severely limits consumer choice in Germany…”

Apple filed infringement charges against Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1 as it infringes the design of iPad 2, which is registered with the European Union’s office for Harmonization in the Internal Market.

A spokesman from Samsung said in a statement “By imposing an injunction based on this very generic design right, this ruling restricts design innovation and progress in the industry,” he also added in his statement that the August 24 ruling by a Dutch court is inconsistent with the decision of a separate case involving the two companies, which found that the design of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab doesn’t step on Apple’s iPad 2 design right.

Apple’s wish was granted by the German court a month ago preventing Samsung from selling its tablet in the European Countries except the Netherlands. A week later the ban was elevated in all E.U. countries except Germany due to the court is not sure whether they have the authority to stop Samsung from selling its products outside Germany.

Dell Streak 5 Pseudo Tablet, Officially Exterminated

dell-streak-review-us-sm-17Together with the likes of Samsung and Apple, computer manufacturer Dell was one of the first hardware dealers to shove a tablet gadget onto retail shelves.  On the other hand, Dell’s virgin foray, the small Streak 5, has since been concealed by bigger, more capable tablets.

Certainly, while tablet options with 7.0-inch and 10-inch touch-screen displays go on to attract the masses, Dell has decided to jerk the rug out from under its small 5.0-inch tablet/smartphone hybrid platform.

“Goodbye Streak 5” gives Dell simply by means of its official U.S. website, “It’s been a great ride.”

Unfortunately, on the other hand, that is not exactly true, not least because of the Streak 5 has largely failed to meet momentum because of languishing somewhere between a smartphone and a tablet but failing to satisfactorily convince as either.

Beyond the tight confines of its screen, the Streak 5 certainly did not cut the tablet mustard because of being equipped with an old-fashioned and non-optimized edition of Android operating system of Google, and a high asking value of between $300 USD and $550 USD.

Even though it’s very small 5.0-inch pretender is formally no more in the U.S., Dell is looking to keep a solid presence in the tablet sector thanks to 7.0-inch and 10-inch versions of the Streak platform.

The Streak 5 is so far available to buy through official UK online store of Dell for short-sighted purchasers.

Apple Stops LG Orders

LG-reportedly-losing-some-Apple-iPad-2-display-orders-to-SamsungApple is allegedly changing new production order from LG to Samsung for the iPad 2, as it appears LG Display’s LCD deliveries for the tablet have had quality issues, urging Apple to turn to Samsung in its place.

The news comes from DigiTimes, who stated that the biggest board supplier of iPad 2 is  being changed by competitors Samsung and CMI, since LG production has been disturbed because to the quality issues.

“LGD’s 9.7-inch panels for the iPad 2 reportedly failed to pass drop tests, during which their backlight units (BLUs) failed, the sources said, adding the panels’ yield rates were unable to meet Apple’s requirement,” according to the report.

LG had transported between 2.5 million and 2.6 million panels, failing to receive the 4 million units each month goal.  However, Samsung completed several improvements, doubling its production up to 2 million iPad 2 panels in the same month.

Yet there is a difficult connection among these three giants.  Samsung is not just LG’s challenger, being Apple’s partner and supplier, it is as well the competitor of Apple on the smartphone and tablet market and is concerned in a long running bitter over copyright violation.

CMI would be a positive option for Apple, but its aim for 9.7 inch iPad 2 displays in just 1 million a month.  Specified previous problems of Apple is staying up with the iPad claim, the Cupertino Company would not surrender LG for good.

Names Come Out for Latest Sprint 4G Smartphone

latest-sprint-phonesIt seems like after having currently opened the HTC EVO 3D and the Motorola Photon 4G this summer, Sprint’s 4G fall lineup will get even more aggressive with what appears to be the latest high-end smartphones for the Now Network.  As we have heard before, there is the latest Galaxy S II variant that will open as the Epic 4G Touch.  That device was previously reported as the Sprint Samsung Within, but it looks like Sprint has decided to carry forward with its Epic franchise.

Additionally, there will be two latest smartphones from Motorola and HTC.  There is the HTC EVO Design 4G and the Motorola Admiral.

Fascinatingly, it appears that the Motorola Admiral lacks the 4G nomenclature, which might recommend that the gadget will be opened sans 4G.

Furthermore, it is uncertain what the HTC EVO Design 4G will be, but it will be the fourth EVO franchise next to the original EVO 4G, the compact keyboard slider EVO Shift 4G, and the latest 3D EVO 3D.  Perhaps the Design name suggests that Sprint’s about to go hip and chic, following Apple’s minimalist iPhone design or ever the reported HTC Bliss smartphone targeted at female subscribers.  Whatever the case, lineup of Sprint is very aggressive.
